  at times in this book

  some symbols will appear

  instead of letters, that is

  that's on purpose

  your device is not broken

& you're not doing anything wrong

  .

  .

  .

  the end is the beginning

  l i t e r a l l y

  that means

  this is book #6

of a series of 6 books

  book #6 was written

in the span of 2 years

from sep 2005 to aug 2007

  one might care to ask:

  how come it's published first?

even though it is the series' last one

  ...

i really don't have an answer there

  .

in fact, this kind of prologue

  has no real purpose whatsoever

except 4 the chapters to be 12

  consisting timely of 10 dreams

and don't forget the end notes

& the text you're reading here

  .

  for optimal viewing experience

  a question simple 2 B answered

is it 2 rectangles i'm seeing?

if you see the 2 rectangles

you can just go to next chapter

no need to stick around in this one

  and if not,

  probly stay here

  a little bit longer

  ...

  now, the first question is:

  (it instantly comes to mind)

what the hell does that mean?

  ...

in this book, a strange thing is

content is equally important to form

in fact, it’s form that dictates content

the words are chosen in such a way

  so that the constructed sentences

  will form arbitrary geo-sketches

that means that it’s really important

2 check various settings in your reader

font, size, orientation, margins & scroll

the whole notion of the operation

is to avoid the goddamn word wrap

  which obviously breaks the schema

  ...

  m o r e a n a l y t i c a l l y

  ...

as far as fonts go (the form basis)

your best bet is the original/default

or whatever includes a “mono” variation

  an example:

monospace | droid sans mono | cutive mono

  \ serif monospace | / courier std / / /

  \ system mono / | nimbus L mono / /

these are some working ones i run into

included in readers i tested so far

more on that note down the road

and if you feel the need to try out more

here's a list of more that work

  a subjective opinion

  PT Mono

  Noto Mono

  Roboto Mono

  IBM Plex Mono

  Office Code Pro

  Oxygen Mono

  Cascadia Code

  Source Code Pro

  Overpass Mono

  Jetbrains Mono

  Liberation Mono

  Inconsolata

  Anonymous Pro

  Share Tech Mono

  Ubuntu Mono

  Lekton, Cousine

  Fantasque Sans Mono

  Monoid & Courier Prime.

  .

  i've already got a plan b

in case none of them exist

or the reader does not help

  just choose publisher font

and the whole book will appear

in a compatible one to the initial

  that is of course

if the app supports the feature

of being able to show that option in the menu

  .

size matters & also a bit tricky

a zoom big enough to read w/ ease

but not that big to break the line

  .

a portrait will go a long way

  for the orientation condition

or landscape w/ a single page

  .

  some would debate the overkill

  of trying to minimize margins

  just say it’s an alternative

  .

  a scroll availability

  a papyrus resemblance

  a vertical secureness

  ...

all these things are mere suggestions

a manual of sorts, if you will

  a 3D~glass contraption

  there have been infinite tests

in readers & devices to make sure

there’d be some semblance of control

i cannot tell you which ones to avoid

a justified defamation not really my style

though some were really tiring to say the least

but i can talk in parabolic ways

incorporate the readers in the story

the ones that gave me hope & helped this

  [a disclaimer:

i’m not getting paid for this

if i was, everything would be oh so easier]

  keep in mind:

i am talking about reader apps

for all the (two) android devices i have tried

  Kobo

  Moon+

  Aldiko

  tolino

  Lithium

  Reasily

  Media365

  eSentral

  Play Books

  PocketBook

  Apple Books

  Amazon Kindle

  ...

then again, if a tablet is not your thing,

and u feel like reading this on a pc

there are more options as well

  Calibre

  Bibliovore

  Kobo *Desktop

  Readium -Chrome App-

  Icecream Ebook Reader

  Adobe Digital Editions

  ...

  all these work really wel
l with this book

ergo, since u decided 2 read this

  they’ll come in handy

there are obviously (or there will be) more

that are compatible, that are a good fit

it’d be amiss not 2 share what i know

  ...

  a general rule of thumb:

  protect the long sentences

do not let them break in two

  ...

  . k u d o s t o t h e p a s t .

this was originally constructed in text mode

from lucida console in the beginning

  till consolas before the end

  *thank you notepad!*

  a blessing in disguise:

  you see, the font selected

  was a totally arbitrary thing

turns out in these monospaced fonts

  letters and characters each occupy

a same amount of horizontal space

  how's that for luck?

  cause that simply means

  compatibility w/each other

  to put it plainly:

  the sketches all hold

  while interchanging them

and there's a whole list of them

if one cares to search for

  such specific info

so you can imagine my relief

  that i hadn't used a font

  with variable width

  cause then 1 would have

to use the exact same one

  to have the same experience

  ...

  i’ll bet these 2 rectangles

don’t seem that strange by now

or at least their context won’t be

  .

  well, i guess:

all that's left to say is:

  i am awake

  always awake

  and never awake

  .

  i can c myself clearly

  this main character anyway

but through the eyes of sm else

through the foggy lens of the camera

  lying in this stretcher

i can't help but keep getting

this constant dull feeling of déjà vu

knowing that this is just another recurrence

  .

i do not know how the tale ends

but, i know it has happened before

& i sense it's not going to be pretty

it is going 2 B the same & all so morbid

  .

there are several stitches in my face

suture: actually there is only 1

& it is vertical & squiggly

  almost linear, but not

  it is imperfect

mother comforts with small scissors in hand

  she's saying it's all gonna B alright

  she's saying it's supposed 2 B this way

& she believes it rather than faking hope

  she is not a nurse

  she is only a mother

  she is only herself *

  [* verification exception]

there R 3 main conjunctions of stitches

3 main knot points if u wish

  1 above the forehead

  1 below the chin

  & a middle 1

  i don't know where it's situated exactly

& i don't think that it matters anyway

OR that i really care 4 that matter

i only know that it holds my face together

it keeps it from falling apart

  from poisoning all

  .

  mother cuts upper stitch

  & then lowest 1 down

  & then middle 1

  & i still can't feel a thing

  can't sense any change

  still the same

  .

  turn him vertically

  so we can c him

  4 once agn

  .

now the fear starts 2 kick in

  lying in this upright state

  strapped in 3 main points

  ankles, thighs & chest

  white sheet covered

  not moving an inch

  sturdy & still

my feet R not touching the ground

it is almost like the whole body now

has gained a strange self poise ability

  .

  i a m a f r a i d

  because i have no face

  it is transparent, yet lucid

  & resembles past skeleton demons

  in purple under-skin shade

  & arterial blackness

  i am petrified

  .

  in yellow (sepia) coloring

& bright shining beams of light

  emerging from behind window entrances

i am the center of this glace room floor

sterilized & hospitalistic ajax cleaned glass

standing over the ground, never touching slippery

arms adjoined 2 the body, strapped & restrained belt

a door 2 the left behind, opened & drawing flashes

a window 2 the right, full studio sound proof

mother nurse by my side, scissors in hand

the face is spreading out fireflies,

they are constrained to a perfect circle

created radiant now around this death's head

identical 2 old church mural paintings of saints

in all its center crimson glory and ochre tint fills

  they R flying around

  blazing the space about

  never being able 2 escape

  the design around the head

  this radiant perfect circle
